Position Overview & Specifications
University Hospital Dorset- Poole site have an opening for Phlebotomists.
Do you have good literacy, numeracy and communication skills? Will you be able to work within a team and under your own initiative in this busy service?
This role is physically demanding, requiring you to have great attention to detail and accuracy when performing venepuncture. Are you looking for a career and are you passionate about patient care? Then this is the role for you.
Inexperienced applicants will be considered providing a venepuncture course has been completed prior to interview.
The service operates between 07.00-16.30 Monday to Friday; 7.00-12.00 Saturday and Sunday and includes bank holidays.
Base Location: Poole Hospital
Interview Date: 8th June 2023
- To carry out duties / responsibilities in accordance with the Trust and Directorate Policies, Protocols including Health and Safety Policies.
- To greet patients in a courteous and professional manner.
- To check the relevant details of patients requiring Pathology tests, resolving and outstanding difficulties.
- Obtain by venepuncture or capillary sampling the correct blood specimens(s).
- Ensure samples are correctly labelled, put into the correct containers and otherwise properly treated so as to be suitable for the analyses requested.
UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.
