At the RSPCA we've been at the forefront of animal welfare since 1824 where we were founded in a London coffee shop and we're proud to be the oldest welfare charity around. Without our dedicated employees and volunteers, we wouldn't be able to achieve all that we do for animals. Everything we do is driven by our people, we live by our values of being compassionate, inspirational, committed, expert and act with integrity.

You'll be joining our HR Systems Team who aid and develop the provision of people technology, including the employee and manager self-service systems, along with providing system tracking and reports on key people measures.

As an HR Information Systems and Payroll Advisor you'll be providing effective and proactive 1st and 2nd level support to the HR Systems Team, acting as a point of contact for all system and process queries.

We are looking for an Advisor with a strong aptitude for data collation, report production and analysis. Experience with iTrent and Business Objects is desirable but not essential.

This role can be homebased or hybrid.

If the postholder is working according to our hybrid working policy, the focus will be on home working with occasional travel to our Horsham or London hub. Either way, the post holder will be required to attend departmental meetings in person; these take place once a quarter.

Here's some of the key work that you will be doing...

  • Assisting in the maintenance of HR systems and carrying out System Administrator activities (not limited to testing, systems checks, data checking, fault finding)
  • Support the Payroll Officer throughout the month and cover the role as and when required including payroll sign off
  • Guide the development and improvement of high quality HR/Payroll processes utilising the functionality of the HR systems in automating processes
  • Participate in the development of HR metrics, MI and reporting using Business Objects and standard system reports
  • Assist with reviewing and documenting HR/Payroll processes and recommending any areas for development
  • Providing 1st Line support and training in the use of the HR System(s)
  • Assisting in writing and maintaining HR System user guides
  • Manage the HR systems mailbox and be the first line support, triage to other colleagues where appropriate

What we are looking for in you...

  • iTrent experience (not essential)
  • Experience in processing payroll/pensions
  • Excellent knowledge of current payroll legislation
  • Be proficient with HRIS systems and projects
  • Experience in improving processes and procedures through iTrent or other HR Information Systems
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Business Objects Experience is desirable
