Millthorpe School is seeking to appoint an inspirational leader to build on the continued development of our well-established Creative Faculty. We are looking for a highly motivated colleague, with a proven record or the promise of outstanding practice, to enable our students to be the best that they can be. This is a really exciting opportunity for a current or aspiring leader to continue to shape a faculty that is striving to be outstanding.
A Design Technology specialist, you must be a highly effective and reflective teacher, with the confidence to teach a number of the DT disciplines. You will be committed to ensuring the highest standards for our young people to support their future learning and adult life.
The Creative Faculty currently consists of 6 full-time teachers, 2 part-time teachers and two technicians. As well as the Head of Faculty there is also a subject leader who supports aspects of Design Technology leadership, and a subject leader for Art. The Department has a number of experienced teachers and others newer to the profession.
All students study Art and Design Technology at KS3 and the Faculty runs many popular courses at KS4 including Art, Graphics, 3D Design, Textiles, Food and Engineering. Colleagues often teach in areas of specialisms at KS4 and across disciplines at KS3. Art is currently taught by Art specialists.
Millthorpe is a popular and successful school rooted in its community close to the heart of the historic city of York. You will be a joining a warm, inclusive and motivated team of over 100 colleagues.
