Position Overview & Specifications
Following the retirement of the current post holder, Bradfields Academy seeks to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic Subject Leader for English.
The successful candidate will lead an established subject that caters for all levels of SEN students offering qualifications from Entry Level to A-Level. An experience of a variety of different levels of qualification would be an advantage.
In 2023 the academy was seen to continue to be Outstanding by OFSTED and the department was a particular focus during that time. The successful candidate will have the ability to maintain these high standards and drive forward their own unique ideas in developing the provision further.
The academy is an all through provision and whilst there are specialists that teach in the primary and more complex provisions, subject leaders are expected to have an active input into their subject within these specialist areas. A good understanding of SEN and the potential barriers to learning and developing English skills would be an advantage.
It is important the successful candidate has good communication skills, and an understanding of how to support staff in the delivery of basic skills teaching such as phonics and reading as these are important developmental areas in all subjects.
The successful candidate will join the Middle leadership team and take an active role in academy development in whole site initiatives such as instructional coaching.
